The school takes its responsibility to safeguard children as its top priority. Children are not able to learn if they do not feel safe and secure in the knowledge that there are adults in school who will listen to their concerns and worries and act on them in their best interests. All children in school know who the designated safeguarding leads are through regular briefings and posters around the site. Children know that staff will not keep secrets but will pass information through the safeguarding team to the appropriate agencies.
The senior Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr Lowdon, who is assisted by the Deputy DSL, Mrs Pearsall, and Assistant DSL Ms Dixon.
In order to avoid confusion, the work of the DSL is carried out by this safeguarding team by year group responsibility. The head teacher is able to support DSL work if no one from this team is available.
All staff have a safeguarding induction on taking up their post and an annual update to keep them informed of our expectations and any new initiatives or information they may need to be aware of.
All staff are regularly reminded of their responsibility to report concerns, the mechanism for reporting and whistleblowing and their obligations under the staff code of conduct .
The school/college’s safeguarding arrangements are inspected by Ofsted under the judgements for leadership & management and also impact the judgement on the personal development, behaviour and welfare of children and learners.
Any safeguarding issues please email to safeguardingconcern@henleyschool.com or alternatively you can email Mr Lowdon directly at jlowdon@henleyschool.com
